4 Stars Quality hinges !

These hinge style go great with the double Victorian screen doors I hung at my front entrance. In my opinion the bronze color was much darker, almost a coal/black with hints of bronze. Very shiny also. They did not match all the other bronze hardware on the doors so I spray painted them with a base coat of Rust-olium ant. copper and than a light overcoat of oil rubbed bronze and they match great. Pre-drill and use some wax on the threads for the brass slotted screws because the heads are very soft and strip easily !! Very pleased ! I hope this time Van Dyke's publishes this 3rd submission for a review that they asked for.
4 Stars Quality Hinges

These are very nice, quality hinges. I ordered them in bronze to match all the other bronze hardware on my door (door knockers, knob, pitcher handles, door bell button ect). They were almost a grayish-black/coal color with some very small bronze accents on them and did not match the other hardware. Also too shiny. I spray painted them with Rust-olium ant. copper for a base coat ,than a light coat of oil rubbed bronze for a top coat and now they are a great match. I used them on double Victorian screen doors on the front of my house and are in keeping with the style. I took off 1 star because of the color of the so called 'bronze'. I could have ordered the less expensive color and saved some $$$ since I had to paint them to match any way. No place to submit a picture here??

This style hinge goes nicely w/the double Victorian screen doors I installed on the front of my home. I ordered them in the bronze. I thought the finish was more of a very dark gunmetal/coal color next to the other oiled bronze hardware that I had installed.(door knockers, entry lock, door bell button and pitcher handles). I spray painted the hinges W/Rustolium Antique copper for a base coat, than oiled bronze paint with a light coat and they are a much better match now and look great. The factory finish was also too glossy. The slotted- brass screws are in keeping w/the era of the hinges and are a great touch -but the soft brass and a hand screwdriver will really put you to work. Pre-drill and use some wax on the threads or there will be striped heads for sure. Or just drive in some Philips heads than touch up and call it a day. I took off 1 star only because the color seemed off to me. (No place to submit a picture?) I hope this review someone else.

these are beautiful hinges. I'd recommend they be installed in threes rather than in pairs both to assure the somewhat less rigid screen door doesn't warp and to compensate for the less than precise hinging of this design. The straight line of screw holes could be a problem in some wood that tends to split... but in Mahogany worked just fine.
