My 1902 house has a claw foot tub, but the across the tub racks are too cumbersome. I intend to mount this above the tub to handle the modern products that we all use while bathing. It fits the age and style of the house perfectly.
This is a heavy, well made rack. We received one and a hook was crooked and there was no mounting hardware. I sent it back and received another one which was in good condition. It was easy to mount. The rack does NOT come in a wood box, even the shipping box itself was beat up with tape coming loose. I love the products that Van Dykes has but their order processing is very, very slow. It takes 5-7 days just for your order to be processed, then another week for shipping.
I purchased different train/towel racks for 4 different bathrooms and this one is far - FAR - better quality & it has a glass shelf so that you can use the shelf for something other than towels. It arrived quickly and was shipped very well. It arrived with wall anchors and all necessary mounting equipment, but I didn't install it so I can't speak to the ease of installation.
I am renovating a 1904 duplex so I'm doing 4 bathrooms. I already purchased a similar shelf from another site for $60 and it was so-so. This shelf is twice as heavy - has finished brackets that affix it to the wall, a glass shelf so that you can put more than towels on top if you wish. Heavy chrome plating - it's just real quality. I am going to get a 2nd one for the other bath. Also the shipping was very fast and SAFE (it came in a protective wooden box.) I'm a new fan of Van Dyke's Restorers.
