Restorers 3 1/8 Inch Iron Trunk Hasp

Traditionally styled hasps provide the finishing touch on primitive chests and trunks. Handcrafted, Restorers 3 1/8" Iron Trunk Hasp has a well-aged appearance making it ideally suited for replacement on antique originals or authentic re-creations! Mounting hardware included. Oil Blackened, Black Powder Coat, Rust, Raw Cast Iron. 1 3/8" W x 3 1/8" L.

Small Leaf: 1 1/16" Length x 1" Width

Large Leaf: 2 1/8" Length x 1" Width

Oil Blackened is raw iron coated with oil. The oil will wear and expose the iron beneath, which will rust. Left as is, this finish will erode, or rub off. This can be prevented by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.

Rust is a raw iron that has been oxidized. This finish will continue to rust over time and will rub off. This finish can be preserved by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.

Black Powder Coat is a baked on finish that is virtually maintenance free. This finish is shinier than Oil Blackened and is permanent.

Weathered Bronze is made from solid cast bronze. Weathered bronze will continue to age and patina over time. No two pieces will ever look identical.

just what was needed to repair toy chest

works very well, though had to use smaller screws than those included; the mounting I used was such that the tongue folded over the part it is hinged to, and that has two benefits--it now lays flat on the front of the box, and also the screws are covered so that the hasp is more secure--the hasp as a whole can't be taken off by removing the screws, since they are all covered by the tongue.

Purpose Fulfilled

I ordered this hasp to secure a set of 'barn doors' I had installed on a woodshed. The hasp was smaller than I envisioned, but it was easy to install and should last against fowl weather.

Sturdy and Good Looking

Very functional hasp for smaller projects. It's possible to punch out the hinge pin and reverse the mounting plate, but be careful and provide support for the barrel. I broke the first hinge I tried, but met with success on the second.

Beautiful Latch

Perfect finish in the black. Beautiful product, fit well together. You do need to recesses the bottom loop into the material if you want it to lay flush, otherwise it will still latch fine. Will accommodate a .25" to .375" lock with no problem. Thanks!
