Acme, Lull and Porter Shutter Hinges and Fasteners

The patented Acme, Lull and Porter Shutter Hinge is used in applications when enough wood trim is exposed within the window opening to mount shutters. One side of the hinge is mortised into the edge of the shutter and the other into the window casement

Choose a size that gives you the best clearance from the window casement. Proper clearance from the surface of the housing is important for ventilating purposes.

  • These hinges are raw cast iron and should be sealed or painted to keep them from rusting!
  • Designed so they cannot be lifted off by the wind
  • Set includes hardware for one window: (2) left-handed hinges, (2) right-handed hinges, and (2) sets of latches. Mounting screws are not included.
  • Weight Bearing is based on use of 2 hinges per shutter, with the shutter being no more than 24" wide and 60" tall. 3 1/8" and 3 3/4" hinges will hold up to 25 lbs. 4 1/2", 5", and 5 1/2" hinges will hold up to 50 lbs.

Just what I needed for our historic house
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

Our historic house is on state and national registers. Over the years, shutters have failed and needed to be replaced. Often the hinge hardware suffered. too. My former source is out of business, and the secondary market is small. Delighted to find this (and other) hardware with Van Dyke.

still the same after 75 years
This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

It's extremely difficult to find specialty hardware such as these shutter hinges that are designed to do a specific job. I was so pleased to see that I could restore the shutters on my historic home with the same hardware that had been installed 75 years ago. These are designed to either hold the shutters fully open or fully closed and they do what their designed to do!
