Restorers Classic Cremone Bolt kit is used on double door sets and French doors and allow the user to activate two separate locks at the top and bottom of doors with one handle. Some buyers use a set on one door of a pair and a slide bolt lock on the other, while others prefer to install cremone hardware on both doors-the choice is yours.

Kit includes two bolt rods which each measure 53 1/2" L x 5/8" W x 3/16" D. Fits doors up to 9 feet tall, and can be cut to shorter lengths.

Cremone Bolt hardware

I found this hardware easy to install, except that I did not receive flat plates that would work with my doors, just the cremone recepticals on each end. I had to make my own flat plates from two leaves of a brass von morris hinge. It works but it would have been nice for this package of hardware to have included flat plates that would receive the ends of the rods on the top and bottom of the jamb and threshold. All that said, the hardware works beautifully.

I was dubious about this low priced cremone bolt but the description as "solid brass", as well as the high prices for competing bolts, persuaded me to give it a try. Two arrived today and I've looked them over. The cast parts have a nice weight and substantial size. It's made in India and has a decent finish but you can see some rough chasing in some places when you look close -- the look of traditional Indian brass work.
