Restorers 5 3/4" Iron Gate Latch is decorative gate hardware that is durable and functional. Finished in Rust, Black Powder Coat or Oil Blackened. Matching mounting hardware included.

  • This latch will fit gates up to 2 1/2" thick.


    • Rust: Raw iron that has been oxidized. This finish will continue to rust over time and will rub off. This finish can be preserved by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.
    • Black Powder Coat: A baked-on finish that is virtually maintenance free. This finish is more shiny than Oil Blackened and is permanent.
    • Oil Blackened: Raw iron coated with oil. The oil will wear and expose the iron beneath which will rust. Left as is, this finish will erode, or rub off. This can be prevented by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.
    • Weathered Bronze: Solid cast bronze. Bronze will continue to age and patina over time. No two pieces will ever look identical.

    Lovely "hand-hewn" appearance, very hefty and substantial. The iron worker who is making my gate also really appreciated the quality of this latch. He will be welding it onto a gate that is duplicating 80-year-old iron work in our home.

    I purchased this iron gate latch to use on a gate, logically enough. I selected the black powder coat finish because the specifications state that this particular finish is permanent and I intended to use it outdoors (yes, on a gate). It started to rust within days. I give it two stars instead of one because the latch itself is quite lovely and well-made.

    I bought this for our porch gate. I was looking for a latch that was easy to operate and looked good, something a little different from the typical latch. When it arrived, one of the two parts was missing. I called VanDykes, spoke with a very pleasant woman and received a new latch in just a few days. Very pleased with the price and the entire process!
