Restorers Classic Deadbolt Thumb Turn with Emergency Slot

We are having issues with our old turn key from the early 1940s so decided to order a new one. This one we got is high quality and looks great. The only problem is how our door handle on the outside is located, so we can't install the whole mechanism the way it's supposed to go. We have a carpenter that will modify it. The square rod needs to be attached to the turn key, not the plate that goes on the outside of the door. Our handle is in the way, so he will cut and reglue the rod into the other side of the lock so it works correctly. If it weren't for our old and oddly set up door, this product would've been perfect. It still will be after being modified. Thank you for providing the things you do!!!
