Restorers Heart Gate Latch Set with Thumblatch Handle

After the 2009 fires in Victoria , Australia our home, farm and business was totally destroyed. Luckily our eldest son is an architect. He designed us an amazing cave style underground house that was safe to live in fire prone areas. ( see steels creek underground house on Australian grand designs program). We wanted features from our previous house but the choice of thumb latches in Australia was poor. we tried to buy from the UK but failed so then we ordered from Van Dyke"s. The latches are perfect on our recycled wood doors and work well. They were delivered much faster than we expected, and a damaged one was replaced with out fuss. Our only problem was with the web site that did not calculate the price right for over seas customers when we were at the stage of putting in our credit card details.

Bought this latch for a handmade barn workshop door to match original antique hinges. Very sharp looking latch, solid and functional. Avoid using the screws that come with it, however. During install, the heads of the screws easily twisted off, leaving the headless threaded part of the screws embedded in the carefully measured pilot holes, and they were tough to extract. But the latch is high quality.

Very nice latch. It has a nice look, well made, finished nicely with no burrs. I did not use the screws provided because I don't have good luck with fasteners from India, used harder philips head screws.
