The story of Designs of Distinction® begins in 1927, when entrepreneur George Brown founded Brown Wood to meet the growing demand for quality wood products in the Midwest. Over the decades, the company expanded into diverse markets, supplying precision-crafted components across industries.

In 1998, that deep manufacturing expertise gave rise to Designs of Distinction®, bringing a legacy of craftsmanship into the world of interior design and decorative architectural components.
